WHO ARE WE?
The Independent Journeyers
The Independent Journeyers is a community formed from a network of Jewish professionals who have transitioned from serving in executive-level positions in Jewish non-profits to operating independently.
We remain mission-oriented while we serve in a variety of contracted roles functioning as consultants, designers, planners, facilitators, coaches, entrepreneurs, and writers.
We’ve been on the inside of organizations and can help them from our unique perspective.
Why does this group exist?
There are many reasons we come together.
We believe that as growing people and professionals, we all need support outside ourselves. And that meaningful opportunities to connect with others is not only helpful, but essential.
While each of us has expertise we use to serve our communities, we see a need for reflective practice amongst colleagues as we continue to develop new skills.
We want to build a community of trust and learning amongst people who have made this shift professionally and still make contributions in this field and to one another.
How does it work?
We gather ourselves in a number of different ways.
Weekly virtual gatherings to check in and support each other.
Small groups focused on various interests and learning opportunities.
Quarterly all-group meetings to discuss the field.
Annual in-person retreat to soothe our souls and learn new skills.
Who is in charge?
We have an Advisory Council to keep us on track, but we created this group to support each other.
This means that everyone takes on a role to help.
How?
People contribute their humility and curiosity. We ask vulnerable questions and help each other through it. We share our resources, practices, and what’s working. We bring our trust, openness, and kindness.
